Vanguard S&P 500 ETF Nears $1 Trillion Assets
The Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (NYSEMKT: VOO) recently became the first ETF to surpass $1 trillion in assets in early June 2023. As of the close on July 28, 2023, the fund’s assets amounted to approximately $979 billion, just $21 billion shy of the trillion-dollar milestone.
In the first five months of 2026, investors added about $69 billion to the fund, averaging nearly $14 billion per month. The ETF’s performance is closely tied to the S&P 500 index, with a 1% movement in the index impacting the fund’s assets by nearly $10 billion. Given the current inflow rate and market dynamics, experts predict the fund may reclaim its $1 trillion status before the year ends.
