Cotton Prices Decline in Early Friday Trading

Cotton prices fell by 40 to 58 points on the morning of August 5, following a slight increase of 12 to 24 points in the previous day’s session. Export sales data revealed a net cancellation of 55,855 running bales (RB) for the 2025/26 cotton marketing year, marking a year-low, while new crop business saw 242,052 RB, the third largest figure for the marketing year. Vietnam emerged as the largest buyer, importing 132,400 RB, followed by Turkey at 41,600 RB.

In additional market data, The Seam reported the sale of 2,277 bales at an average price of 80.64 cents per pound. The Cotlook A Index fell by 70 points to 93.00 cents, while ICE certified cotton stocks remained unchanged at 84,632 bales. The Adjusted World Price increased by 163 points to 66.29 cents per pound. Current futures for October 2026 cotton are at 81.96 cents, December 2026 at 83.16 cents, and March 2027 at 84.89 cents, all reflecting a decline from their earlier closes.
