SK Telecom (NYSE: SKM) reported second-quarter 2026 consolidated revenues of KRW 4.36 trillion, a 0.5% increase year-over-year, with operating income rising 67.3% to KRW 566 billion. This growth is attributed to data-center expansion and improved cost management following expenses related to a cybersecurity incident in 2025. The company also introduced new mobile plans to improve customer retention and simplify pricing structures.

In addition, SK Telecom established SK Hyper, a subsidiary focused on AI data-center development, committing KRW 750 billion to this initiative, with KRW 330 billion allocated for investment in 2026. AIDC revenue surged 92.5% year-over-year in the second quarter, driven largely by the Pangyo Data Center. The company aims to develop 5 gigawatts of capacity to meet structural demand for AI infrastructure.

SK Telecom plans to rely on external funding to support its infrastructure expansion and maintain stable dividends. Discussions with global technology companies are ongoing regarding AI infrastructure demand, as SK Telecom transitions from a telecommunications operator to a leading AI infrastructure company.
