Microsoft Reports Strong Q4 Earnings, Driving Stock Surge

Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) reported an 18% revenue increase for Q4 of the fiscal year 2026, bringing total revenue to $90 billion, with a 31% rise in net income. This growth was primarily fueled by a 43% increase in Azure services, surpassing $100 billion in annual revenue for the first time. Following the earnings announcement, Microsoft shares jumped 18% within a week, reversing a challenging year for investors.

CEO Satya Nadella highlighted the progress in Microsoft’s AI initiatives, noting that Microsoft 365 Copilot has reached 30 million paid seats. Despite concerns over AI investment costs, analysts forecast a 15-16% annual growth in earnings over the next three to five years, with the current price-to-earnings ratio now sitting around 25.
