**Corn Prices and Crop Report Update**
Corn prices experienced an increase of 1 to 2 cents in morning trading on Tuesday, September 26, 2023. Futures closed the previous session with gains between 3 to 6 ¼ cents across various months. The CmdtyView national average cash corn price rose 6 ¼ cents to $4.36 ¼ per bushel. Notably, open interest indicated new buying activity, with an increase of 15,298 contracts primarily in December.
The ProFarmer Crop Tour, which began on Monday, reported South Dakota’s corn yields at an average of 149.09 bushels per acre, down 14.41% from last year and 8.37% below the three-year average. In Ohio, yields averaged 180.18 bushels per acre, a 2.97% decrease from the previous year and a 2.25% decline from the three-year average. Additionally, the latest Export Inspections report revealed corn shipments for the week ending August 13 at 1.91 million metric tons, a substantial increase of 81.71% compared to the same week last year.
