The U.S.-China technology race is intensifying, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, and semiconductors. On August 14, Reuters reported that the U.S. plans to encourage its allies in AI cooperation to choose between U.S. and Chinese technology ecosystems as part of an initiative to secure supply chains for critical technologies.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts a 3% global GDP growth in 2026, with China’s economy expected to grow by 4.6%. Despite a mixed global economic backdrop, strong demand for AI technology is driving growth, with notable contributions from key U.S. stocks including NVIDIA, Micron Technology, D-Wave Quantum, and Rigetti Computing.
NVIDIA reported a staggering 85% year-over-year revenue increase in Q1 2027, estimating fiscal Q2 revenues at approximately $91 billion. Micron’s revenues surged to $41.46 billion from $9.30 billion year-over-year, while D-Wave’s first-half bookings soared 1,120%. Rigetti also saw significant growth, with revenues increasing from $1.8 million to $5.1 million year-over-year in Q2 2026.
