Corn Resumes Early Gains Wednesday Amid Falling Tour Yields

Corn prices increased by 2 to 3 cents on Wednesday morning, following a mixed trading session on Tuesday where futures closed down as much as 1 ¾ cents to up a penny. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price decreased by 1 ¾ cents to $4.35 ½. The ProFarmer Crop Tour reported Nebraska corn yields at an average of 163.61 bushels per acre, down 8.85% from last year, while Indiana’s yields averaged 183.54 bushels per acre, a 5.3% decline from the previous year.

The weekly Crop Progress report indicated that corn condition ratings fell by 1% to 60% in good to excellent condition, with the Brugler500 index decreasing by 3 points to 353. Notable declines in condition were observed in Kansas, South Dakota, Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Texas, while improvements were seen in Nebraska, North Dakota, and Ohio. Additionally, ANEC estimated Brazilian corn exports for August at 5.63 million metric tons, an increase of 0.46 million metric tons from the previous week.
