Wheat Prices Retreat Ahead of Friday Trading Session

Wheat prices experienced losses ranging from 3 to 8 cents on Friday morning, following a mixed trading session across major exchanges on Thursday. Chicago SRW futures recorded slight gains of up to 2.5 cents, while KC HRW futures showed mixed results. As of Thursday, open interest increased by 6,090 contracts, and MPLS spring wheat rose 6.75 to 9 cents.

In the week ending August 13, the USDA reported a total of 393,655 metric tons (MT) of wheat sales for the 2026/27 marketing year, marking a 24.26% decrease from the same week last year. The primary buyer was Mexico, with 105,000 MT purchased, followed by Taiwan at 97,200 MT. Additionally, the International Grains Council adjusted global wheat production down by 4 million MT to 817 million MT, while consumption was reduced by 2 million MT to 826 million MT. End stocks for the same period were also revised down by 4 million MT to 275 million MT.
