Tesla Robotaxi Rollout Update
Tesla has shifted its focus for the robotaxi rollout from fleet size and city expansion to the development of software and safety. A notable large-scale rollout is now unlikely before late 2026, as the company prioritizes the validation and release of its Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, v15, expected by early 2027.
Current data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) indicates a strong and improving safety record for Tesla’s robotaxi program. As of 2026, there have been 14 reported incidents, with most not attributed to Tesla’s fault. Just four incidents were noteworthy, highlighting minor low-speed contact events, suggesting a cautiously optimistic trajectory for future developments.
