Cotton futures showed mixed results on Thursday morning, with prices down 22 to 10 points after closing up 25 to 93 points on Wednesday. The Cotlook A Index remained unchanged at 98.20 cents as of Tuesday, while ICE certified cotton stocks increased by 2,567 bales, totaling 66,327 bales as of August 25.
Key cotton futures include Oct 26 closing at 87.77 (up 69, currently down 22), Dec 26 at 89.14 (up 80, currently down 10), and Mar 27 at 91.07 (up 84, currently down 9). In related markets, crude oil fell by 45 cents per barrel, and the US dollar index rose by $0.227.
The 7-day forecast indicates dry conditions for much of Texas, with scattered light totals expected to remain below 0.25 inch, while the Gulf region may receive totals nearing an inch.
