On Friday morning, corn prices rose by 5 to 6 cents after a decline on Thursday. The September corn futures closed at $5.10 1/4, down 3 3/4 cents, while the nearby cash price decreased to $4.82.
For the week ending August 20, export sales of old crop corn were reported at 31,220 metric tons (MT), the lowest for the marketing year, with significant cancellations exceeding 277,500 MT. In contrast, new crop bookings reached 1.066 million MT, marking a marketing year high, with notable sales to unknown destinations, Mexico, and Honduras.
Total accumulated corn sales for the 2026/27 season stand at 12.458 million MT, reflecting a 33.6% decrease from the same week last year but still the 4th largest weekly total in 30 years.
