Soybean futures traded higher on Friday morning, with increases of 8 to 11 cents. The closing prices on Thursday showed contracts up 1 to 2 ¼ cents, while the national average cash bean price rose 2 3/4 cents to $12.32 1/2. Soymeal futures saw modest gains up to $1.60, and soy oil increased by 32 to 80 points. As of Thursday, open interest was up by 774 contracts.
The weekly Export Sales report indicated net sales of 73,913 MT of soybeans for the 2025/26 marketing year, marking a three-week low. The largest buyer was Egypt, with 105,000 MT purchased, while China claimed the title for new crop sales, securing 1.1 MMT. Accumulated sales for the 2026/27 marketing year reached 14.334 MMT—nearly double last year’s figures.
European Commission data has projected EU soybean imports for the 2026/27 year at 14.5 MMT, up 0.6 MMT from last month’s forecast. Meanwhile, Sinograin, a Chinese state stockpiler, plans to auction 68,000 MT of soybeans on September 2.
