Amazon (AMZN) reported strong growth in its Prime membership, with double-digit year-over-year increases highlighted in its Q2 2026 earnings on July 30. The company unveiled its full 2026-27 NBA on Prime schedule on August 13, featuring key events like a Black Friday game and exclusive coverage of the Eastern Conference Finals. Overall net sales reached $200.6 billion, up 20% year-over-year excluding currency effects, with North America revenues increasing by 16% to $116.2 billion.
In the first half of 2026, Amazon experienced a more than 40% rise in same-day or overnight deliveries for Prime members and a 26% increase in advertising revenues, totaling $19.8 billion. For Q3 2026, Amazon expects net sales between $197 billion and $202 billion, indicating solid momentum amid expanding grocery delivery services and a deeper investment in live sports rights.
Comparatively, Walmart and Netflix are also seeing growth in membership loyalty, with Walmart reporting high net adds for Walmart+ and Netflix experiencing 13% revenue growth driven by membership expansion. As of now, Amazon is trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 23.35, slightly higher than the industry average.
