Amazon’s Financial Performance and Future Outlook
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) reported a 20% year-over-year revenue increase in Q2, totaling $200.6 billion. The company’s cloud computing segment, Amazon Web Services (AWS), generated $42.2 billion in net sales, marking a 37% increase and the fastest growth rate in 18 quarters. Operating income rose by 43% to $27.5 billion, with AWS contributing $16.6 billion in operating income, up nearly 63% year-over-year.
Amazon plans to invest $220 billion in capital expenditures this year as it expands its AI and cloud services, which is expected to impact earnings per share (EPS) growth. The company’s EPS was reported at $5.75, significantly up from $1.68 in the previous year, although analysts predict a potential decline in EPS by 2027. Current share price stands at approximately $261, with projections estimating a potential increase to $460 by 2028, assuming a 12% annual earnings growth rate.
