Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) reported second-quarter 2026 revenues of $5.6 million, a significant rise from $61,000 year-over-year. Despite the revenue growth, the company faced a gross loss of approximately $1.2 million, indicating that production volumes are insufficient to cover fixed manufacturing costs. Operating expenses surged by 114% year-over-year to $21.8 million, driven by increased payroll, research and development, and acquisition-related expenses totaling $180 million for purchases made during the first half of 2026.
In comparison, D-Wave Quantum (QBTS) saw flat second-quarter revenues with a first-half decline to $5.93 million from $18.10 million a year prior, primarily due to the absence of a major system sale. The company’s second-quarter operating expenses rose 93% year-over-year. Additionally, Rigetti (RGTI) experienced increased revenues of $5.1 million, up from $1.8 million the previous year, with a concentration risk as one customer made up 64% of their revenues. Rigetti’s operating expenses rose by 48% to $30.3 million.
QUBT’s stock price has dropped 47.9% over the past year, in contrast to the industry decline of 11.7%, and currently trades at an expensive forward price-to-sales ratio of 34.61 compared to the industry median of 4.09.
