Evaluating the Potential of Ford Stock Amidst F-Series Production Recovery

Ford Motor Company ramped up its F-Series truck production, hitting over 39,000 units in August 2023—the best monthly output in 20 years—after recovering from supplier disruptions caused by two fires at Novelis’ plant in New York. This increase is aimed at replenishing dealer inventories after a challenging year.

Despite this production rebound, Ford’s U.S. sales fell by 10.3% year-over-year in August, marking the eighth consecutive monthly decline. Notably, electric vehicle (EV) sales plummeted by 79.4%, raising concerns about the company’s future in the EV market amid projected losses reaching $4 billion by the end of 2026.

Overall, while Ford Pro, the commercial vehicle division, shows promise for higher-margin revenue, the company faces significant challenges, including reliance on gas-powered vehicles, increasing production costs, and weak EV demand. Upcoming sales data in September and October will be critical for evaluating Ford’s market position.
