D-Wave Quantum’s Growing Commercial Success Explained

D-Wave Quantum Inc. (QBTS) reported second-quarter 2026 revenues of $3.1 million, unchanged from last year, with 62.4% attributed to commercial customers, an increase from 45.1% in the prior year. Notably, QCaaS subscription revenues surged by 50% to $1.9 million. The company also experienced a significant rise in first-half bookings, up 1,120%, including a $20 million sale of an annealing system to Florida Atlantic University. Remaining performance obligations rose 668% to $40.7 million, with 57% expected to be recognized within the next year.

In comparison, Quantum Computing Inc. (QUBT) saw revenues climb to $5.6 million, a substantial increase from $61,000 a year prior, and Rigetti Computing, Inc. (RGTI) reported a 185% year-over-year revenue increase to $5.1 million, bolstered by Novera QPU sales. Rigetti also advanced its 108-qubit platform and secured a potential $100 million funding commitment from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

Over the past year, QBTS shares have increased by 10.9%, contrasting with a 12.6% decline in the broader Internet Software industry. The company has a forward Price-to-Sales ratio of 90.60, significantly higher than the industry average of 3.97.
