On September 1, 2026, Tim Cook stepped down as CEO of Apple and became the executive chairman, with John Ternus, former vice president of hardware engineering, taking over the role. Cook’s tenure saw Apple outperform broader equity indexes, and Ternus’s leadership begins on a significant note as the company is set to unveil new products, including a potential foldable iPhone, on September 9.
In its latest financial report, Apple reported a revenue increase of 16% year-over-year to $109.4 billion for Q3 of fiscal 2026, with earnings per share at $2.02, up 29% from the previous year. Despite the foldable phone market constituting only 2% of smartphone sales, Apple’s entry could bolster its customer retention and expand its ecosystem, as it currently supports over 2.5 billion devices, generating substantial cash flow of $136.68 billion over the past twelve months.
