Soybean Market Rebounds from Initial Lows Yet Struggles with Export Demand

Soybean prices fell 5 to 6 cents on Wednesday, with the cmdtyView national average cash price at $12.52 1/4 per bushel. Soymeal futures rose 80 cents, while soybean oil dropped by 13 points. The USDA reported private export sales of 340,000 metric tons of soybeans to China for the 2026/27 season and an additional 100,000 metric tons to unknown destinations.

As of September 25, a USDA Crop Progress report indicated that 26% of the U.S. soybean crop is dropping leaves, maintaining condition ratings at 58% good/excellent. StoneX projects the U.S. soybean yield at 53 bushels per acre, with production estimated at 4.547 billion bushels. The USDA is expected to release updated data on Friday, with traders anticipating a slight yield decrease to 52.4 bushels per acre and production lowered to 4.492 billion bushels.

Additionally, Stats Canada reported canola stocks at 1.899 million metric tons as of July 31, marking an 18.9% increase from the previous year.
