Cattle Prices Decline on Turnaround Tuesday Weakness

On September 14, live cattle futures fell between $1.42 and $1.90, as cash trade remains inactive for the week. Last week, cash cattle sold for $222-225, a rise of $1-6 from the previous week. Feeder cattle futures declined by $2.80 to $4, with the CME Feeder Cattle Index at $341.58, down 13 cents.

Wholesale boxed beef prices increased, with Choice boxes up 77 cents to $376.08 and Select boxes rising $1.81 to $356.36. The USDA reported an estimated cattle slaughter of 108,000 head for Tuesday, bringing the weekly total to 211,000, exceeding last week’s figures but falling short by 21,182 head compared to the same week last year.
