Microsoft and Amazon Financial Overview

Microsoft reported a significant revenue increase of 18% year-over-year, reaching $90 billion for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, which ended June 30. The company’s cloud revenue rose 27%, totaling $59.3 billion, with a remaining performance obligation (RPO) of $678 billion, an 84% increase from the previous year. Microsoft’s cloud sales are reportedly benefiting from its AI developments.

In contrast, Amazon’s net sales grew 20% year-over-year to $200.6 billion, with its cloud division, Amazon Web Services (AWS), achieving a 37% sales growth, the company’s highest rate in 18 quarters. Amazon’s capital expenditures for fiscal year 2026 were raised to $220 billion, primarily due to high memory chip prices, amid a $496 billion backlog that is significantly growing.
