Tesla Receives Tax Break for Solar Manufacturing Facility
Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) has gained a significant advantage as the Lamar Consolidated Independent School District approved a unanimous tax break for its upcoming solar manufacturing facility in Fort Bend County, Texas. The facility, known as “Project Crystal Sun,” aims to cut Tesla’s tax bill in half from 2029 to 2038, amid a construction budget of approximately $10 billion.
The new facility aligns with Elon Musk’s goal of achieving 100 gigawatts in annual domestic solar power production over the next three years. Currently, Tesla’s energy segment contributes 13% of the company’s total revenue, showing a 700% increase in sales since 2019. This expansion is seen as critical in supporting Tesla’s future plans, including its anticipated robotaxi fleet, amidst rising electricity demands driven by AI advancements.
