**Corn Market Update**
Corn prices experienced a modest increase of 6 to 7 cents on the day, following a decline on Friday where December futures fell by 2 ¾ cents for the week, settling at $5.27 ½. The CmdtyView national average Cash Corn price decreased by 3 cents to $4.82 1/4, influenced by weaknesses in soybean and wheat prices, along with losses in crude oil. Open interest rose by 8,943 contracts.
As of September 15, managed money added 1,671 contracts to their net long position in corn futures and options, bringing the total to 426,842 contracts. Meanwhile, Brazil’s first corn crop is estimated to be 27% planted, slightly ahead of last year’s 25% pace. Export activity remains quiet, especially ahead of a significant meeting between President Trump and China’s President Xi this week, although Secretary Bessent engaged with Chinese counterparts in preparation.
