U.S. stock indexes are rising today, with the S&P 500 Index up by +0.61%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average up +0.17%, and the Nasdaq 100 Index up +1.33%. The rally is supported by a decline in crude oil prices, down over -3% to a one-week low, and lower bond yields, with the 10-year T-note yield falling to 4.96%. Bitcoin is also experiencing a boost, increasing by more than +4% to a 7.5-month high.

The positive market sentiment is attributed to optimistic expectations ahead of a summit between Presidents Trump and Xi Jinping later this week, with U.S. and Chinese officials expressing favorable assessments on talks related to artificial intelligence, trade, and investment. Today’s Chicago Fed national activity index for August fell to -0.04, aligning with predictions, while market expectations are discounting a 51% chance of a +25 basis point rate hike by the Federal Reserve at its next meeting on October 27-28.

In international markets, the Euro Stoxx 50 is up +1.36%, and China’s Shanghai Composite climbed +0.97%. The 10-year German bund yield decreased to 3.451%, as European government bond yields also fell. The German Bundesbank reported that Q3 GDP growth will be modest due to short-term factors, but a stronger growth pace is anticipated in Q4.
