Market Milestones for AMD and Nvidia
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) closed on September 21, 2026, with a market value surpassing $1 trillion for the first time, making it the fourth U.S. chipmaker to achieve this milestone. This comes after a 187% increase in the company’s stock for 2026, including a nearly 10% surge on that day, driven by heightened demand for artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) reported a 106% year-over-year revenue growth, totaling $96.2 billion for its fiscal Q2 2027, primarily supported by its data center business. Nvidia management projects approximately 70% revenue growth for fiscal 2028, attributing potential limitations to manufacturing supply rather than customer demand. As of September 21, AMD shares are approximately 40 times their expected 2027 earnings, while Nvidia is at about 15 times its projected earnings for fiscal 2028.
