Nvidia vs. Broadcom in AI Computing

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) has established itself as the leader in AI computing, generating $96.2 billion in revenue during Q2 2023 and projecting $108 billion for Q3. Over 90% of its revenue comes from its data center division. In comparison, Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO) anticipates AI semiconductor revenue of $115 billion by fiscal year 2027 and $230 billion by fiscal year 2028. While Broadcom’s growth is promising, Nvidia’s earnings currently far exceed these expectations.

Broadcom’s strategy involves custom AI chips, which can outperform GPUs for specific tasks at lower costs, but Nvidia’s GPUs remain dominant due to their versatility. Broadcom’s revenue growth rate is expected to be higher than Nvidia’s estimated 70% for FY 2027, indicating it may gain market share. However, Nvidia’s extensive market presence and established data center dominance suggest it will continue to outperform overall in the near term.
