Ford Motor Company and General Motors are closely competing in revenue performance, with Ford reporting $46.2 billion for Q3 2024, while GM had $48.8 billion. Over the last two years, both companies showed fluctuating revenue patterns with alternating growth and contraction phases. Notably, Ford surpassed GM in revenue in five of the last eight quarters, yet the differences remained narrow.
In Q4 2024, Ford’s revenue is projected to rise to $48.2 billion, compared to GM’s anticipated $47.7 billion. Looking further ahead, Ford is expected to generate $50.2 billion in Q2 2025, overtaking GM’s revenue of $47.1 billion for that quarter. Both companies are investing in new technologies, including a multi-energy vehicle manufacturing joint venture by Ford in Spain and GM’s plans to reintegrate smartphone interfaces into their vehicles.
Investors should keep an eye on revenue trends as indicators of market demand and future growth trajectories, as well as gross profit margins. For Q2 2026, Ford’s gross profit margin stood at 7.32%, while GM’s was slightly higher at 7.64%.
