AI Investment Landscape: Nvidia vs. SpaceX
Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) reported a significant 106% year-over-year revenue increase in Q2 2023, totaling $96 billion, solidifying its position as a leader in AI technology. Meanwhile, Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX) (NASDAQ: SPCX) grew its revenue by 213% to $2.56 billion in the same quarter, after investing $15.8 billion in capital expenditures for its AI division. Despite this rapid growth, SpaceX’s overall revenue remains significantly smaller, at $7.8 billion, compared to Nvidia’s.
While Nvidia commands a profit margin of 62%, SpaceX is currently unprofitable but expects to achieve a 45% margin when mature. The market capitalization of Nvidia is $5.4 trillion, significantly larger than SpaceX’s $2 trillion, indicating SpaceX may be overvalued considering its current revenue performance. As analysts suggest, Nvidia appears to be the more solid investment opportunity in the AI sector going forward.
