Microsoft Corp. MSFT has unveiled innovative Generative AI-powered enhancements to the Windows 10 Photos app, set to benefit millions of users. Support for Windows 11 is anticipated shortly.
Featuring State-of-the-Art AI Integration: Microsoft’s latest update to the Windows Photos app introduces the “Generative erase” tool, harnessing AI technology to proficiently remove distractions from images, as detailed in a recent blog post.
In addition to the Generative erase feature, other AI-powered editing tools such as background removal, blur, and replace have been incorporated. Microsoft is currently introducing these updates to Windows Insiders across all channels, including users on Windows 10 in the Release Preview Channel.
Understanding the Evolution: Replacing the previous Spot fix tool, Generative erase allows users to eradicate background elements or visual disruptions from their images, providing a seamless and realistic final result.
The tool can be accessed by selecting the Erase option under Edit Image and brushing over the areas or objects users wish to remove. For precise control or simultaneous removal of multiple objects, users can deactivate Auto Apply to apply or remove masks accordingly.
