Apple Considers Bitcoin Investment
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) is exploring innovative strategies to enhance shareholder value, including the potential allocation of up to 10% of its $132 billion liquidity into Bitcoin. This proposal follows similar strategies employed by MicroStrategy, which increased its share price significantly after investing in Bitcoin. Given the cryptocurrency’s historical price appreciation of over 22,000% in the past decade, investing a portion of its cash could result in substantial gains for Apple over the next decade.
In fiscal year 2025, Apple reported a net income of $112 billion and seeks ways to improve revenue growth amidst recent challenges. Analysts suggest that diversifying its asset portfolio to include digital assets like Bitcoin could yield higher returns compared to current cash equivalents. The company’s executives, however, may approach this investment cautiously, mirroring industry hesitance as seen with Microsoft’s recent decision against Bitcoin investment during their shareholder vote.
