Accenture (ACN) has announced its acquisition of COMWARE Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based provider of end-to-end technology services for mid-market companies. The deal, whose financial terms are undisclosed, aims to enhance Accenture Edge, a business unit focused on helping mid-sized companies adopt artificial intelligence and modernize operations. This acquisition will add over 180 professionals to Accenture’s workforce and will expand its capabilities in SAP and customer relationship management technologies.
Founded in September 2000, COMWARE has significant experience serving discrete manufacturing businesses and has been a business partner of SAP Japan for more than 25 years. This acquisition aligns with Accenture’s strategy to meet rising demand for digital-core modernization in Japan’s mid-market segment, allowing for quicker deployment of AI, cloud, and data-driven solutions.
Accenture’s recent activity includes a strategic partnership with UniCredit and a deal with ServiceNow to enhance cybersecurity offerings. Despite these expansions, Accenture’s stock has declined approximately 32% this year, compared to a 14% drop in its industry sector.
