Alibaba has launched its latest Large Language Model, Qwen3.8-Max, which boasts 2.4 trillion parameters and aims to outperform rivals including OpenAI and Meta. This model is positioned as a core element in Alibaba’s growing AI ecosystem and supports complex enterprise tasks through long-context processing and multimodal inputs.

As part of its commercialization strategy, Alibaba plans to release Qwen3.8-Max as open weights, allowing developers to customize the model. The company expects AI-related products to drive significant growth, with AI already contributing 30% to its external cloud revenue, projected to exceed 50% within a year.

Year-to-date, BABA shares have decreased 16.6%, underperforming the Zacks Internet and Commerce industry. Despite this, the forward P/E ratio stands at 15.61X, compared to Meta’s 16.49X and Alphabet’s 20.82X, indicating a potentially favorable valuation relative to its competitors.
