Amazon, in partnership with Delta Air Lines, will introduce satellite-based in-flight Wi-Fi on 500 planes starting in 2028.

This collaboration aims to challenge SpaceX’s Starlink, which currently operates over 10,000 satellites, providing high-speed internet globally.
Amazon (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) announced a significant partnership to implement satellite internet services across Delta’s fleet, with commercial operations expected by 2028. Amazon’s Project Kuiper will facilitate the rollout, offering a large-scale infrastructure deployment aimed at improving connectivity for airline passengers.
While the deal enhances Delta’s customer loyalty and engagement, its financial benefits will be gradual, as in-flight Wi-Fi is not a primary revenue source for airlines. Amazon faces regulatory pressures from the FCC, with a deadline to have about half of its satellite constellation operational by July 2026. If successful, this initiative could represent a substantial new revenue stream for Amazon.
