Amazon Launches Web Version of Alexa+
Amazon has introduced a web version of its Alexa+ assistant, available at alexa.com, which aims to compete with AI chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The rollout is currently accessible to early access Alexa+ customers and comes as Amazon boosts its capital expenditures for AI to $125 billion in 2025, up from a previous estimate of $100 billion.
The Alexa+ assistant, launched last year, facilitates the management of multiple Alexa devices and can perform tasks like scheduling repairs for home appliances. As of now, Amazon’s financials show a profit of $76.5 billion over the trailing 12 months, positioning the company to further invest in AI innovations.
This expansion reflects Amazon’s commitment to utilizing AI and enhancing its services, with an eye on effectively connecting smart home products and potentially capturing market share from other chatbot providers.
