Amazon’s Substantial Investment in Japan
- Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) Web Services is set to inject about ¥2.3 trillion ($15.53 billion) into Japan’s cloud computing infrastructure by 2027, primarily to expand its data centers in Tokyo and Osaka, as reported by Nikkei on Friday.
- The move follows a prior investment of ¥1.51 trillion yen during 2011-2022 to bolster cloud capacity in Japan.
- The cloud computing behemoth already offers cutting-edge AI services to major Japanese clients, including Asahi Group, Marubeni, and Nomura.
- This endeavor will surpass AWS’ projected investment of $12.7 billion in India.
