Amazon Reports Strong Q2 Results
On July 31, Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced its second-quarter results, showcasing a significant revenue increase to $200.6 billion, up 20% year-over-year, surpassing Wall Street’s expectations of $196.8 billion. The net income reached $62.6 billion, representing a 242% increase from $18.2 billion in the same period last year.
Key revenue contributions included $116.2 billion from North America (up 16%), $42.2 billion from international sales (up 15%), and a remarkable $42.2 billion from Amazon Web Services (AWS), which grew 37% driven by demand for AI capabilities. Operating income for AWS surged 63% to $16.6 billion.
Looking ahead, Amazon anticipates third-quarter revenue between $197 billion and $202 billion, indicating year-over-year growth of 9% to 12%. Operating income is projected to fall between $22.5 billion and $26.5 billion, compared to $17.4 billion the previous year.
