Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has launched the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, a high-performance desktop processor featuring dual AMD 3D V-Cache across all chiplets. This innovative design enables a total cache of 208MB, catering to demanding workloads in development, content creation, and gaming. The announcement, made on October 5, 2023, is part of AMD’s strategy to enhance profitability and strengthen its technological leadership in the CPU market.
AMD’s gaming revenue surged by 50% year over year to $843 million in the fourth quarter, driven by increased sales of semi-custom products and the Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. However, the company anticipates a 5% sequential revenue decline for the first quarter of 2026, attributed to seasonal softness in the Client, Gaming, and Embedded segments. The Zacks Consensus Estimate suggests first-quarter revenues could reach $9.84 billion, reflecting a year-over-year growth of 32.3%.
Despite a 44.1% year-to-date increase in share price, AMD continues to face significant competition from NVIDIA and Intel in the gaming segment. NVIDIA reported $3.7 billion in gaming revenue, showcasing a 47% year-over-year growth as demand for new-generation GPUs remains robust.
