AMD Stock Surges 11% This Year: Should You Hold or Sell?

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) shares have increased by 11.4% year-to-date, surpassing the Zacks Computer and Technology sector‘s 7.9% increase. Meanwhile, Intel Corporation (INTC) has experienced a 9.5% gain in the same period.

In the first quarter of 2025, AMD’s data center revenues soared by 57.2% year-over-year, reaching $3.674 billion, and accounting for 49.4% of total revenues. For Q2 2025, AMD projects revenues of $7.4 billion (+/- $300 million), indicating approximately 27% year-over-year growth, despite expected losses of about $700 million due to export restrictions on GPUs to China.

In comparison, NVIDIA reported a 73.3% revenue increase in its data center segment, making up $39.1 billion in Q1 2026. AMD’s earnings estimate for Q2 2025 is currently pegged at 54 cents per share, down from previous estimates, which reflects a 21.74% decline year-over-year.
