AMD Expands Focus on AI Technology
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ: AMD) is intensifying its efforts in the artificial intelligence (AI) market, with CEO Lisa Su projecting an annualized growth rate of approximately 80% for its AI revenue. The company aims to achieve this through its Helios platforms powered by the Instinct series of GPUs, specifically designed for AI applications. During the last reported quarter ending in September, AMD’s data center revenue, primarily driven by AI, increased by 22% year-over-year.
AMD plans to launch its new Instinct MI450 series of GPUs by the latter half of 2026, featuring up to 432 gigabytes of RAM and operating at 19.6 terabytes per second. Analysts predict this development will significantly bolster the company’s AI growth trajectory, potentially doubling its total revenue by 2028. However, AMD faces stiff competition from established players like NVIDIA and Intel, as well as new entrants including Alphabet and Amazon.
