American Resources Corporation (AREC) has announced that its subsidiary, Electrified Materials Corporation (EMCO), has procured its first battery shredding line. This milestone will enhance EMCO’s lithium-ion battery recycling operations by processing end-of-life, off-warranty, and manufacturing scrap batteries to create feedstocks for critical minerals reuse. The initiative was supported by a recycling grant from the State of Indiana and private capital raised at the subsidiary level.

The new shredding line will primarily focus on recycling lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, which are increasingly used in electric vehicles and energy storage systems but challenging to recycle profitably. EMCO plans to integrate advanced purification technologies in collaboration with ReElement Technologies Corporation for high-purity mineral recovery from battery waste. The investment aims to strengthen the domestic supply chain for critical minerals while reducing dependence on imports.

AREC’s stock has surged 297.1% in the past year, significantly outperforming the industry average of 59%. The company’s ongoing initiatives align with its broader strategy to bolster battery recycling capacity and mineral recovery.
