Meta Platforms (META) is set to showcase new products at its annual event, Meta Connect, taking place on September 23-24, 2026. The company’s stock surged by over 11% recently, attributing much of this optimism to the positive reception of its recently launched Muse AI assistant. Before this increase, META shares had only modestly risen by around 2% since the start of the year.
Highlights expected at Meta Connect include the unveiling of new smart glasses, a VR headset, and updates on the company’s metaverse initiatives. Notably, a new mixed-reality headset referred to as Project Phoenix may be previewed, although its release is projected for 2027. Muse, launched on September 8, has quickly climbed to the top of the Apple App Store with 730,000 downloads in just five days.
Looking ahead, Meta anticipates capital expenditures between $130-$145 billion for 2026 as it enhances its AI and infrastructure capabilities. While the company generated $60.8 billion in revenue during the second quarter, dependency on advertising remains a concern, especially with decreasing ad revenues from platforms such as Reality Labs, which incurred a $4.62 billion operating loss.
