Total earnings for Retail companies in the S&P 500, representing 98.4% of the sector’s market capitalization, increased by 12.9% year-over-year, on revenues that rose by 6.6%. Notably, 75% of these companies surpassed EPS estimates and revenue estimates. Conversely, when excluding Amazon’s contributions, earnings growth diminishes to 1.1% and revenue growth to 4.6%.

For small-cap retailers in the S&P 600 index, which account for 77.1% of the sector’s members, total earnings grew by 2.5% alongside a 1.9% rise in revenues, with 70.4% beating EPS estimates. Overall, S&P 500 earnings are on track for a 12.1% increase in Q2 from the previous year, with revenues increasing by 6.1%.
