Ford Motor Company reported a 14% decline in U.S. sales, totaling 178,667 vehicles in April 2026. Electric vehicle sales fell 24.8% year over year to 3,655 units, while hybrid sales decreased by 32.5% to 15,758 units. Internal combustion vehicle sales accounted for 159,254 units, down 11.8% from the previous year.
Truck sales dropped 14.1% to 100,459 units, and SUV sales decreased by 16.6% to 72,378 units. However, car sales rose by 18.1% to 5,830 units. The F-Series remained the best-selling truck lineup with 62,048 units sold, despite a 14.7% year-over-year drop.
Factors impacting sales include rising oil prices, high vehicle prices, and elevated borrowing costs, making buyers more cautious. Ford brand sales decreased 14% to 169,540 units, while Lincoln luxury sales fell by 21%. The Expedition experienced a sharp decline of 39%. Overall, Ford’s market performance has lagged behind peers like Tesla and General Motors in the last six months, with a share price drop of 11.5% compared to the industry’s minor decline of 0.1%.
