Wells Fargo Set to Release Q1 2025 Earnings Report Soon
With a market capitalization of $235.9 billion, Wells Fargo & Company (WFC) is a prominent player in the financial services sector, providing a range of banking, investment, mortgage, and consumer and commercial finance products. The firm operates across various segments, including consumer, commercial, corporate, and wealth management, serving individuals, businesses, and institutions domestically and abroad. The San Francisco-based company is scheduled to announce its fiscal Q1 2025 earnings results before the market opens on Friday, April 11.
Leading up to the announcement, analysts forecast WFC to report a profit of $1.22 per share, which represents a 3.2% decrease from the $1.26 per share reported during the same quarter last year. However, Wells Fargo has outperformed Wall Street’s earnings estimates for the past four quarters, including a nearly 6% beat of the consensus EPS expectation in Q4 2024.
According to analysts, Wells Fargo is projected to report an EPS of 5.84 for fiscal 2025, marking a 5.8% increase compared to the $5.52 earned in fiscal 2024. Furthermore, EPS is anticipated to experience significant growth, reaching approximately $6.83 in fiscal 2026, which translates to nearly a 17% increase year-over-year.
Wells Fargo’s shares have appreciated 20.3% over the last year, outperforming the S&P 500 Index’s ($SPX) gain of 8.9% and the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund’s (XLF) 16.1% return during the same timeframe.
Despite reporting an underwhelming Q4 2024 revenue of $20.4 billion, Wells Fargo’s stock surged by 6.7% on January 15. The bank’s EPS of $1.43 exceeded expectations, and net income rose by 47% year-over-year, reaching $5.1 billion. The firm also noted a 15% rise in fee-based revenue, which helped counterbalance a 7% decline in net interest income (NII) down to $11.8 billion. Investor sentiment improved further due to strong guidance for 2025, including a projected NII increase of 1% to 3% and rising investment banking fees.
Analyzing Wells Fargo’s stock, the consensus among analysts is cautiously optimistic, holding a “Moderate Buy” rating overall. Out of the 24 analysts tracking the stock, 14 recommend “Strong Buy,” two advocate for “Moderate Buy,” and eight suggest “Hold.” As of now, WFC trades below the average analyst price target of $83.74.
