Apple Reports Strong iPhone Revenue Growth
Apple’s iPhone revenue for the fiscal third quarter reached $54.25 billion, a 22% increase that surpassed analysts’ expectations of $53.86 billion. This growth positions Apple as one of only two major smartphone manufacturers to counteract a 6.7% decline in global smartphone shipments during the second calendar quarter of 2023, according to IDC. Apple saw a 15.3% year-over-year increase in iPhone shipments, while Samsung also reported growth at 8.1%.
Despite the overall decline in smartphone demand, consumers are willing to pay higher prices for iPhones, indicating strong market resilience. Tim Cook highlighted that demand was bolstered by upgrades to the iPhone 17, just ahead of the anticipated launch of the iPhone 18 next month, featuring an enhanced AI-powered Siri.
