**Coffee Prices Update: September 2023**

Arabica coffee prices for September (KCU26) rose by +1.50 (+0.42%) today, while robusta coffee prices (RMU26) fell by -25 (-0.67%). Arabica is trading just below a 6.5-month high, supported by low inventories which dipped to a 2.75-year low of 229,214 bags. Conversely, robusta prices are under pressure due to a 5.25-month high in inventories, totaling 4,622 lots.

As of August 14, Brazil’s coffee harvest is 81.1% complete, a 7-point increase from the previous week but lagging 5% behind last year. Dry weather in Brazil’s Minas Gerais region has accelerated the harvest but is expected to adversely affect future crops due to potential El Niño conditions, which could disrupt normal rainfall patterns. Furthermore, Colombia’s coffee exports are partially back online after a recent earthquake, though port operations remain inconsistent.

On the supply side, Vietnam’s coffee exports jumped by +21.1% year-over-year to 1.31 million metric tons, while overall global coffee production is projected to rise +6.0% for the 2026-27 season, reaching a record 189.7 million bags.
