ARLYX Technologies has launched a fully electric autonomous solution for material handling in underground mines, marking a significant innovation in mining operations. The new ARLYX utility vehicle, paired with an AutoLatch module, can transport, load, and unload materials weighing up to 5,000 kg remotely, even during blasting periods. This system is designed to reduce productivity losses during post-blast ventilation.

By operating during blasting, ARLYX aims to increase mining efficiency, potentially generating an additional ore load per day, translating to estimated annual gains of up to C$27 million. The vehicle’s ability to decrease on-site hazards and address labor shortages makes it particularly relevant as extraction activities expand into deeper and more challenging environments. Developed over two years in Quebec, the solution will be showcased at the Mining Transformed event from May 25-27 in Sudbury, Ontario.

ARLYX’s autonomous transport system integrates seamlessly with existing mine infrastructure, utilizing technologies such as LTE, 5G, WiFi, and radio. It also supports decarbonization efforts by eliminating diesel reliance and reducing underground ventilation needs, which are typically high operating costs in mining.
