Arm Holdings Launches Own Chip, AGI CPU, with Meta as Flagship Partner
Arm Holdings (NASDAQ: ARM) has announced its first-ever in-house chip, the Arm AGI CPU, designed for AI data centers. This strategic shift, revealed at its Arm Everywhere event, signifies Arm’s move away from its traditional licensing model. The company anticipates that this new unit will generate $15 billion in annual sales within five years and has already partnered with Meta Platforms, among other companies like Cloudflare and OpenAI.
The AGI CPU promises to deliver double the performance of comparable x86 platforms and is developed in response to rising demands in AI infrastructure. Arm’s royalty revenue from its data center business has more than doubled recently, reflecting a robust growth trajectory. With expected total revenue reaching $25 billion in five years and earnings per share projected at $9, the company’s strategic pivot aims to enhance profitability without compromising its existing licensing business.
