Aya Gold & Silver has announced significant drilling results from its Zgounder mine in Morocco, revealing high-grade silver intercepts. Notably, underground hole T28-26-1248 produced 8 meters of 2,176 grams of silver per tonne, including 4 meters of 4,298 grams. Another hole, ZG-RC-26-946, in the open-pit area recorded 6 meters grading 1,867 grams of silver from 96 meters depth.
The Zgounder mine, located approximately 215 km south of Marrakech, is projected to operate until 2036, with proven and probable reserves of 15.7 million tonnes grading 145 grams of silver, amounting to 73.4 million ounces of contained silver. In 2022, the mine produced 4.8 million ounces of silver, and Aya’s share price rose by 2.5% to C$29.36, bringing its market valuation to around C$4.2 billion ($3 billion).
Exploration continues at Zgounder, with Aya progressing through a 30,000-meter drilling program this year, reporting continued high-grade results and the discovery of new mineralized zones. The mine is one of the few silver-only operations globally, and the latest drilling supports ongoing development efforts in the area.
