BASF SE BASFY is set to make a splash at CHINAPLAS 2024 — a groundbreaking event in the plastic and rubber sectors. The company will unveil its latest additive products, designed to significantly enhance the sustainability of various plastic applications. These innovative solutions aim to help customers in the plastics industry achieve their sustainability targets by enhancing durability, reducing emissions, and elevating the performance and quality of recycled plastics.
CHINAPLAS 2024 stands as an exemplary platform for BASF to guide its customers through the company’s plastics journey, emphasizing the delivery of sustainable solutions, promoting circularity, and fueling innovation within the plastics industry.
A New Wave of Innovation
BASF will introduce IrgaCycle, a trailblazing product that facilitates mechanical recycling. As the demand for recycling used plastics for a second life increases, the need for additives to enhance recycling rates becomes vital. Collaborating with Axroma, a Taiwan-based textile manufacturer, BASF is transforming waste fishing nets into T-shirts. By recovering polypropylene from nets and spinning it into fibers using BASF’s IrgaCycle, a higher recycled content is achieved.
Sailing Towards Sustainability
Recognizing the necessity to make plastics more environmentally friendly, BASF presents the newly launched Irgastab PUR 71. This sustainable alternative, utilized in car roof panels, reduces emissions and enhances vehicle air quality. With no hazardous components, it boosts mechanical properties, prevents color alteration in plastics, and serves as a beacon of eco-conscious manufacturing.
Additional applications will be spotlighted at the BASF booth, featuring Tinuvin NOR for greenhouse films and Irgastab for enhanced latex stability in shoe soles.
Charting a Course for Change
BASF experts will headline CHINAPLAS Tech Talks, underscoring the pivotal role of plastic additives in augmenting recycled content and elevating recyclate quality. The sessions will also cover highly effective rubber antioxidant treatments, marking a significant step towards sustainable manufacturing practices.
Over the last year, BASF’s shares have surged by 10%, outshining its industry’s 5.4% decline.
